India Post GDS Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who wish to apply for the Post Office Recruitment 2026 must meet the eligibility criteria, including educational qualifications and age limits, as detailed below.
Educational Qualification
Candidates should have cleared the Secondary School Examination, i.e, Class X with Mathematics and English from a Board of School Education recognised by the Government of India, State Governments, or Union Territories in India. India Post GDS Selection Process 2026
Candidates for GDS posts are selected through a system-generated merit list prepared based on the marks secured in the Class 10 Secondary School Examination. A separate merit list will be issued for all 23 postal circles on https://indiapostgdsonline.gov.in/.
- Shortlisting of applicants is done purely on the basis of a system-generated merit list prepared from Class 10 examination results of recognised boards.
- Marks obtained or grades/points are converted into marks and aggregated into a percentage up to four decimal places, and candidates must pass all subjects as per the respective board norms.
- If a candidate’s Class 10 marksheet contains both marks and grades/points, only the total marks of all compulsory and elective/optional subjects are considered, excluding any extra subjects.
- For candidates whose marksheets show only subject-wise grades, marks are calculated for each compulsory and elective subject (excluding extra subjects) by applying a multiplication factor of 9.5.

Candidates whose names appear in the circle-wise India Post GDS Result PDF must attend the document verification (DV) stage to receive final appointment to the Gramin Dak Sevak posts in their respective circles.
